I will admit, I am a little disappointed with this novel. I expected more for Noire as she was illustrated as one of the best erotica novelist. There were some sex scenes, but nothing that was descriptive, exciting or impressive, sadistic but not plain. The title the Candy Licker bares no connectivity to the heart of the book other than the main character's name is Candy. On the story level,it took me a while to get into it because it was a cluster of confusing blubbering back and forth scenarios for a while that left me with more questions than answers. However, the book eventually became interesting, so interesting that I could not put down. However, it let me down in the ending because the ending sucked and once again left more questions than answers. When I think of it, the book seemed rushed.

Candy is another diva in distress, with big dreams of becoming a famous singer. When she thinks her life is about to go from bad to even worse she bumps heads with one of the hottest rappers on the planet, Junius "Hurricane" Jackson. He is CEO of the number-one urban record label, House of Homicide, in Harlem. Candy finally can live her fairytale, so she thinks. Going from dead broke to having everything anyone could ever want; she lacks what her heart truly desires. Romance & Love. Instead she enters the most abusive sadistic relationship one could ever imagine. Her only safe route? The arms of Hurricane's lawyer, Knowledge.Noire did an amazing job with this GRIMEY, in-your-face tale of the music industry. Candy Licker is action packed, and will have you on the edge of your seat through the entire novel. Noire did an extraordinary job with her vivid descriptions. I could smell the sweat dripping off every booty popper & rapper in the club!I can't get enough of NOIRE!!!

I can always count on Noire to deliver some good, scandalous storyline. This time was no exception...I've had my eye on Candy Licker for some time and I finally read all of the other books that I had ahead of it; it did not disappoint...I was sucked into the storyline immediately thinking about how 3 girls wanted to be in the entertainment industry soo bad (and was willing to sell their souls to attain their dreams/goals). Hurricane was an absolute monster; I could actually visualize the sadistic stuff that he had them women (and some men) doing. Dude was out of control. Without giving the whole storyline away, this book was off the chain. From Chapter One to the end, I burned right through this book.Noire did it again. 5 Stars all day...

This book had everything. Romance, suspense action everything. Wow. Good info reference the music business. Amazing that Candy survived all the horrors hurricane put her through. I loved the happy ending for her and knowledge.

NOT FOR VIRGIN EYES OR PEOPLE WHO ARE TIMID AND DON'T LIKE READING GRAPHIC SEX. I did enjoy the book although I was mad at Saucy for the things she did in this book, and I honestly hope that there aren't many Saucy's in the world, but I know there are a few. You can get the dish on all of the other reviews. Let me just say if you are not a Noire reader, or urban ertoica fan..pass this book up, .buy something else. Everyone else should enjoy. I would recommend one of the early books, Candylicker or Gspot as your first Noire read. If you don't like either of those, look for something else because they get more and more graphic.

I am such a big fan of noire I didn't think it could have gotten any better than g-spot, candy licker or thug a licious. Thong on fire was by far her best book which is hard to believe because the other ones were so good. I had a soft spot for saucy considering how she was brought up. You couldn't tell her that she wasn't the finest chick that every man or woman wanted. I was driving down the streets of newark NJ and I saw a woman topless and no bra pants down to her ankles just walking high out of her head, the first person who came to mind was saucy's mother Kimichi. Read this book and you will have trouble putting it down

If you like a raw story line, than this is for you. It’s a urban story with plenty of drugs, sex and violence.

I must start off by saying that I love Noire's work but this read was not her best! It had my full attention(at first) and had just enough to read it to the end. As I kept reading I felt like I was reading about Karrine Steffans aka "superhead". I thought the ending was dramatic and disappointing. Some parts of the story could have been told more in detail. I felt at times the author was all over the place. Other than that it was okay I laughed a lot which helped me finish the story.

Review

"Cheryl's hunger for new gardening knowledge and her vast gardening experience make this book rich with invaluable information for Central Texas gardeners and yardeners."--Doug Welsh, author, Doug Welsh's Texas Garden Almanac (Douglas F. Welsh, Ph.D)"If one wants to have a garden, a lawn, trees, flowering plants, or wants to simply control pests, one should look no further than Central Texas Gardener written by Cheryl Hazeltine with photos by Richard Hazeltine. . . It is a gardening book without peer. The author has a conversational style and a clever sense of humor, but she knows her stuff. I don't know her, but Ill bet she is 'good gal'. . . An extra dose of credit should be given to Richard, her photographer and husband. His photos are great. . . It is so informative and interesting, it is hard to put it down. Simply being able to identify plants around the place makes the book, a valuable friend. The book and its pictures make gardening a new and exciting project. . . Now if the  Hazeltines can write a book just as good on raising kids, this bill be a better place. If you have a desire to grow something, get a copy of Central Texas Gardener." - Jerry Turner, Mexia Daily News (Jerry Turner Mexia Daily News 2011-05-17)

I lived in the St. Louis, MO area for over 40 years and I was pretty successful in growing small vegetable gardens. I understood the seasons and what would grow and what wouldn't grow in that part of the mid-west. I moved to San Antonio about 7 years and everything that I knew about growing herbs and vegetables was thrown on it's ear. It is a whole different ballgame now that I live in South-Central Texas and what I used to know doesn't apply anymore. This book came to the rescue.Although the book covers both food crops and ornamentals it is contains enough information to help you to be successful in both or either endeavor. One of the facts that surprised me was that Central Texas gardeners can grow something eatable in their plots all year around. It may not be tomatoes or melons but it seldom gets cold enough to kill root vegetables like garlic, radishes and a few others. I also had to get used to some of weird bugs and diseases that plague this area. This book gave me the information that I needed to be successful in this hot, humid, waterless climate. The book is full of charts, graphs and photos that flesh out it's very useful and helpful information. As far as I am concerned, this is the go-to book for the Central Texas gardener.

My go to book. I have a couple of plant books that are alway close at hand, this is one of those books. Very well written and very informative. The information contained in the book is targeted specifically for gardeners in Central Texas. Powerhouse of info. Wonderful pictures. Very informative.

I am relatively new to Central Texas gardening and thought this book would be helpful to get things going and it will be, sort of. It has more information relative to my area than most gardening books I have found but still not enough. I am looking for something that has some sort of spreadsheet with what varieties can be grown in my county and at what time they should be planted and if they should be started from seed directly in the garden or transplanted. I have just ordered another book and have higher hopes for it. All in all not a bad book, easy to read and understand, gives listings of potentially helpful websites but just not what I needed. I don't want information on landscape, I am actually anti-landscape; I want information on edible ornamental, front yard victory gardens and functional as well as practical flora and fauna for my area, am I asking too much?

Lots of valuable information. Best book that I’ve found for Central Texas gardening.

Perfect descriptions of all plants and shrubs and trees. We need to conserve water here in north Texas.

This book is a treasure for gardeners in Central Texas. Terrific photographs of so many plants suited for the area. The book contains a wealth of information on most of the challenges and rewards of gardening in Central Texas.

This book has a lot of color photos that are quite useful in identifying plants. Regarding substance, I do not think it is as useful as Howard Garret's gardening books.

This book was a mixed bag for me; on one hand I thoroughly enjoyed the exploration of each member of the Endless family through short stories revolving around them or someone they have directly affected throughout time, while on the other hand the art varied extremely wildly and was incredibly jarring.I liked the art in the beginning of the book with Death’s story, enjoyed the hazy, dream-like aesthetic of Dream’s story, and though the book ended very strongly with Quitely’s Destiny story. However, I still fail to understand the appeal of Dave McKean’s art style, and actively struggled through Despair’s chapter in terms of the art. Also, the artist for Desire’s story was good, but the models sometimes felt a little too stiff and didn’t seem to have as much mobility as others’ artwork. The writing was top-notch from top to bottom, though, with the exception of one chapter that I’ll get into later. Each chapter felt like it delved directly into the psyche of each member of the Endless family perfectly (yes, even the one I’ll be discussing later), and even showed us new aspects of their personalities at times, further complicating the characters. With all that said, I must say that I did not enjoy the Delirium chapter at all, on both a writing and artistic level. It was far, far too unfocused and disjointed for me to understand what exactly was happening, and it turned out to be even more of a chore to read through than Despair’s story. I managed to power through the Despair chapter because the text was well-constructed and separated from the art more often than not, but with the Delirium chapter I couldn’t find any foothold whatsoever and felt myself getting increasingly frustrated at my inability to follow what was going on. I will concede that this is the point of the Delirium character, and in that sense the story and art truly do match the character perfectly, but that does not inherently mean that the story was enjoyable. All in all, I enjoyed four of the six stories contained in this book, and while it was nice to delve into the members of Dream’s family a bit more, I found myself wanting a bit more from the chapters revolving around the Endless who were not Dream or Death. Though I suppose that may be the reason why they were the ones to get their own titles and guest appearances in DCU books while the others didn’t.

In his return to his most successful work, Neil Gaiman puts together a tale for each of the Endless siblings; some good, some not-so-good.Despair and Delirium's are easily the best, arguably some of the best short-stories to come out of the Sandman. They're both very atmospheric, with artwork that looked like the artists were just showing off, but in a good way.Dream's story was also pretty good. It flashes way back into the past to show what the endless were doing before the humans came into existence. We even get to see delight!Desire's story was...touchy. It had some particularly good artwork, in a book where the artwork is all great. But it was the type of story that walks a very thin line between sexism and good character work so that you can't really argue with either side.Destruction's and Death's stories are just kind of there. There's nothing bad about them, but at the same time there isn't anything especially good about them either.Destiny's story, though, was a complete disappointment. If you've read the first two pages of Seasons of Mist, you've already read it. I like Destiny as a character, and seeing that waste of an event soured me on the whole book in a way.Overall, this is at best my third-least-liked Sandman work. But even disappointing Sandman is still better than most other stories out there.

Neil Gaiman is often compared to Lewis Carroll as a maker of modern fairytales and myths. In "Endless Nights," he provides yet more evidence as to why these comparisons are justified.Like the rest of Gaiman's "Sandman" series, "Endless Nights" tells stories about beings of great power, which represent universal themes and truths. In addition to the Endless, the seven great beings embodying essential aspects of all living things (Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Despair, Delirium, and Desire), in "Endless Nights" we also find references to cosmic topics like the origins and personalities of the stars and planets, powerful stories in the tradition of the best folktales, and intensely personal stories of modern people. The illustrations of this book are top-notch, truly some fantasy-pairings of visual stylists with Gaiman's unique style. Each story has a different illustrator, and while all are good, a few stand out. Milo Manara's vision of Desire is surely the best I have ever seen, Barron Storey's "15 Portraits of Despair" demands that each page be examined closely, Bill Sienkiewicz's take on Delirium is so perfect that one wonders why it wasn't done before, and Frank Quitely's short tale of Destiny is the perfect end to the book. The only thing going against the book, I would say, is that it's billed as a "Sandman" graphic novel, but it really is not one. Its stories, while intriguing, do not fit in effectively with the rest of the Sandman stories. Rather, they are stand-alone stories about the Endless, which means that they're good stories, but they're not an integral part of the larger work of the "Sandman" series. It has been almost ten years since the end of the original "Sandman" series, and it shows. The only other time since then that Gaiman has revisited these characters was in the excellent "The Dream Hunters," which was more of an integral part of the "Sandman" story than "Endless Nights" is.Still, other than the minor disappointment of not being a better fit for the "Sandman" story arc in general, "Endless Nights" is a fine piece of work in itself, and can be enjoyed many times. The art is beautiful, the stories rich and full of meaning and cultural reference. I would recommend it to just about anyone, but especially fans of Neil Gaiman's other work, fans of the Endless, and avid readers of fairytales and mythology.

This one left me pretty drab in the end. Some really good artwork, but ultimately they’re a little contributing to the overall mythology. In fact, the Destiny segment felt like a complete recycle of lines that already appeared in previous issues.
