I enjoy the genre of true crime, and this author is an excellent chronicler of the evil that men do. In this book, he focuses on the Kissel family, in which two wealthy, well-educated brothers are both murdered on different occasions and by different people. One was bludgeoned to death, and the other was stabbed to death. What are the chances of that?.The book tells the story of two good-looking, well-educated, highly intelligent brothers, Robert and Andrew Kissel. Both grew up under the thumb of Bill Kissel, a wealthy entrepreneur, who was an extremely domineering and harsh father. Robert Kissel, the younger brother, grew up to be a brilliant and successful investment banker. He married Nancy Keeshin, a college dropout working as a waitress at the time that they met. Andrew, the older brother, grew up to be a real estate developer. He married Hayley Wolff, a well-educated stock analyst and former world class skier. The book focuses primarily of Robert's story, with Andrew as the secondary story, which pretty much mirrors the way life treated them. Robert's story is the more interesting one, as it has many juicy elements, such as marital infidelity, a fascinating foreign city in which the murder took place, and the glamorous life style of wealthy ex-pats , all laid out against the backdrop of some gothic family drama. Andrew's story, on the other hand, is more pathetic. He simply turned to a life of crime, lived way beyond his means, and embezzled money from the cooperative apartment building in which he lived. The author skillfully outlines the events that led to the murders. In Robert's case, his wife's infidelity and her obsession with Michael Del Priore, her blue-collar lover, prompted her to do the unspeakable. A couple of years later, Andrew also followed in Robert's footsteps, having been stabbed to death just as he was getting to face the music for his crimes. Who killed Andrew, however, was not known at the time that this book was written. That murder was not resolved until much later. Unfortunately, this left a bit of a void in this well-written true crime book. All in all, however, the story of the Kissel brothers is a fascinating one and a true American tragedy on many fronts. Those who enjoy the true crime genre will not be disappointed by this book.

This is my 6th book by Joe McG. and the 4th of is true-crime books. Fatal Vision (his masterpiece in my opinion), Blind Faith (my personal fave, being from NJ) and Cruel Doubt (though I now also reside in NC), I give a rating of 5 stars to all. Unfortunately I could only give Never Enough 4 stars. Unlike the style of most Joe McG. books I was simply unable to feel moved by these characters. This is not typical of his previous works. In Fatal Vision, you can feel the pain and horror as Colette's parents come to the realization that their beloved son-in-law Jeff murdered their daughter and grandbabies. In Blind Faith, you can see and hear the anguish of the cries of the Marshall brothers as they walk around tryin to hug anything standing while grieving the murder of their beautiful mother by their maniac father. In Cruel Doubt your heart just aches with empathy for the devoted loving mother who stands by the side of her diabolical son after the attmpted on her life and the murder of her loving husband. You laughed, cried and prayed with all of them...you felt like you knew them. The families of the Kissells? I just didnt feel connected to any of them. But maybe it wasn't the fault of Joe McG...maybe he did the best he could with what he had.Review #7 - Kindle Edition

I used to read a lot of true crime books. Ann Rule being one of my fave authors in that genre. But I haven't read one in a long time. Never Enough was recommenced to me, and I'm sorry I left it lingering on my kindle for so long. I LOVED it. It took a few chapters to get rolling and cover background info, but once I was invested in the story of Rob & Nancy Kissel, I was hooked.I didn't anything about this crime or these people prior to reading their story, and I would urge you not to Google anything beforehand b/c there are lots of spoilers due to the media coverage. If you are a fan of crime stories, forensics, legal drama and marital angst of the uber wealthy, you will devour this book as quickly as I did. I did not want it to end...seriously could have read like 30 more chapters about these people.I shall now turn to the internet to feed my appetite for more info on them...Highly recommend!

How in the world does a woman get so greedy for money and shopping that she emotionally abandons her children? Then she has an affair with a man so culturally different from herself and she doesn't even know it? This book tells the tale of a selfish, self absorbed woman who sacrifices everything with a murder. Very well crafted book and a page turner from start to finish.

Joe McGinness is such a good writer that you stay glued to the page even when you know how the story ends. Another story about a murdering psychopath, so you have to be in the mood for this kind of book. Perfect when you want to escape "real life".

This story is intriguing and disquieting. The Kissels had everything money could buy but no integrity. For those people who envy lottery winners, this account of the Kissels is an eye-opener and proof that money will NOT buy happiness.

Joe McGinniss is an excellent writer. The fact that his "stories" are all real and not fiction, makes them even more interesting. Pick any of his books - you simply will not be disappointed.
